Gary Samuel Lawson

Gary Samuel Lawson, age 68, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014.

Gary was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and spent most of his adult life in Lumpkin County. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Lumpkin County and served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge #38 in Dahlonega, a member of the Order of The Eastern Star in Dahlonega and he played the part of Santa Claus at various locations during the Christmas Season.

He was the son of the late Reavie Lawson, Sr. and Ethel Rudge Lawson and is also preceded in death by his brothers, Reavie Lawson, Jr., Don Lawson, Ed Lawson, Terry Lawson; sisters, Betty Shank and Clara Lawson.

Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda Dyer Lawson of Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Wendy Lawson, NJ; daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Aaron Fisher, Winder GA, Tina and Dewey Sawyer, NY, Michelle and Ken Harkins, Dahlonega, GA, Jennifer and Michael Brown, Dahlonega, GA, Dana Gilleland, Dunwoody, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis Lawson, Dahlonega, GA, Dick and Carolyn Lawson, Warren, PA, Jack and Sandy Lawson, Winter Haven, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Melvin Fuller, Angola, NY; grandchildren, Kaitlin Ray, Emma Harkins, Jared Lawson, Cody and Brandon Sawyer, Lorryn, Justan, Edyn Fisher; great grandchildren, Alek and Ryder Sawyer and Darcy Fisher. A number of other relatives and many friends also survive.

Funeral services for Gary are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Lumpkin County, GA.

Rev. Phill Miller and Rev. Keith Allison will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 2 PM until 9 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2014, and from 9 AM until 1 PM Sunday, September 14, 2014.
