Artie Mae Hovater

Obituary Date: Thursday, September 11, 2014

Mrs. Artie Mae Hovater Canada of Toccoa, GA, formerly of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, was received into the Church Triumphant, on Thursday, September 11, 2014. She was born June 19, 1927 in Tuscumbia, Alabama and lived most of her life in Muscle Shoals. Mrs. Canada worked in childcare, and was a seamstress of the first class. But her most important work involved her love for God, and her love of family. She was a faithful member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church and a lifelong follower of Christ. Mrs. Canada was preceded in death by her husband, Severne, and is survived by her two daughters, Yvonne Canada and Mona Canada Keister (David) of Toccoa, GA: Three grandsons, David II (Ashleigh), Kevin and Kenneth Keister; and four great-grandchildren, David III, Bryan, Audri and Kaleb Keister; and many beloved nieces and nephews, and their families. Her life made a difference to them all, and she will be greatly missed. She loved all of her family dearly.



Services for Mrs. Canada will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 14, at 4 PM at the Colbert Memorial Chapel on US Hwy 43 South, with the Reverend David Keister, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woodward Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Colbert County Memorial Gardens. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements for Mrs. Artie Mae Hovater Canada.
