Randall 'Red' Cruce

Obituary Date: Wednesday, September 3, 2014

Randall "Red" Cruce passed away on September 3, 2014. Randall's brilliant mind had been compromised by Alzheimer's disease over the last few years and he also suffered from a broken heart over the loss of his loving wife of 62 years, Billie Smith Cruce.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2014, with Rev. Jason Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker.

Born on Christmas day in 1932, he grew up in Tucker and graduated from Tucker High School in 1950. Red was a member of the Tucker Masonic Lodge # 42 for nearly 60 years. Red was a true entrepreneur, achieving success in many diverse businesses, including real estate investments, building, developing and used and new car dealerships. Many remember Red as a favorite race car driver at local tracks in the sixties, where he raced modified and super modified cars for 5 years, winning two Late Model championships. He was an avid golfer in his later years, achieving the dream of every golfer with 5 hole in ones and developing many friendships.

God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Bettie and Gary Hodges of Hoschton, GA and Brenda and Charlie Mitchell of Gainesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Joanna Cruce of Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; loyal caregiver, Carolyn David.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, (770) 564-2726.
