James Richard Benson, age 67, of Buford, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Donna Johnson Benson, Buford, GA; son, Scott Benson, Dacula, GA; grandchildren, Cameron Benson and Caleb Benson; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Donald Graham, Charleston, SC; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dianne and Randy Coggins, Buford, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Kathy Gower Johnson, Dacula, GA, Waymon and Debi Johnson, Washington, GA and Ronnie Wilkerson, Buford, GA; his special girls, Gracie Buice, Lexii Johnson and Taylor Coggins; and special friend, Sandra Crowe, Buford, GA. Mr. Benson was born April 20, 1947 in Gainesville, GA. He attended Buford High School where he played football and ran track. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the Buford American Legion Post 127. He was founder of All Service Termite and Pest Control in April of 1984 and Mr. Benson's son, Scott, is owner and still runs the business. He was a former member of Donaldson Drive Baptist Church in Chamblee, GA where he was baptized in 1985. The family would like to say, "a special thanks to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and their Hospice Nursing Staff, to Dr. Timothy Carey, and to loving family and friends for their care of James Benson". Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Coggins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 115, Gainesville, GA in memory of James Benson.
