Hazel Irene Haney Dean

Funeral services for Hazel Irene Haney Dean, age 88, of Clarkesville will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM from Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Gastley officiating, assisted by Rev. Tommy Stowe. Interment will follow the service at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, September 1, 2014 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM.

Mrs. Dean passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Silverleaf of Athens following an extended illness.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina on October 1, 1925, Mrs. Dean was the daughter of the late Ernest Patton and Sloanie Leatha Hawkins Haney. Mrs. Dean had been an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, and cooking.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dean is preceded in death by her husband Louie E. Dean, Sr.

Survivors include daughter and son in law LaRue and Bobby Gastley of Clarkesville; daughter Leatha Dean and grand-dog Nata of Demorest; son and daughter in law Louie E. Jr. and Marlene Dean of Clarkesville; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethlehem Building Fund.
