Weaver O. Byrd

Weaver O. Byrd, age 92, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Byrd was born on April 2, 1922 in Franklin, North Carolina; son of the late Austin and Lela Arvey Byrd. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mote Byrd. Mr. Byrd was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in WWII. Mr. Byrd was the owner/operator of Byrd's Jewelry Store in Clarkesville, Georgia, and was an avid gardener. Above all he was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Barrett, Demorest; grandson and spouse, Josh and Kayla Barrett; great-grandchildren, Lara Barrett and Hayden Barrett.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Demorest City Cemetery with Rev. Russ Barker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
