Robert Andrew Gotty

Robert Andrew Gotty, 86, of Forsyth County, went to be with Our Lord on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014. He was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church and also a member of their choir.

On March 22, 1928 Robert was born in Albany, New York to Alfonse and Margaret Geraghty Gotty. He began working selling magazines from age 8-13. From age 13-16 he delivered newspapers and from age 16-18 he setup pins at a bowling alley. Robert met the love of his life, Ann-Marie, when he was 16. He joined the United States Navy at 18. He served 2 years and then remained in the Navy Reserves until 1953. He married Ann-Marie on June 5th, 1949. They resided in New York until 1959 and then moved to Florida. They relocated to Atlanta, GA in 1965 and then retired to Cumming, GA in 1993.

Robert worked 34 years for Sears Roebuck Company as the Director of the Technical Training Center and Central Service Manager. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Chairman of the President's Committee for 2 years. He was also Chairman of the United Way of Atlanta Commercial and Metropolitan units for 2 years. Robert was President of the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development in 1975.

His greatest joys in life were serving our Lord and Savior, being a devoted husband to his wife Ann-Marie, raising 4 children, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, and operating an internet retail business and "Crosses across America, Bob's Dream".

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond Gotty, and his wife, Ann-Marie. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Mills; children, Roy Jay (Marilyn) Gotty, Lynn Marie Talmadge, Cheryl Ann Gotty, and Rod Alan (Viorica) Gotty; grandchildren, Lauren Marie (Andrew) Green, Ashley Leigh Lively Talmadge; great-grandchildren, Alexis Marie Green and Lindsey Claire Green; close family friend, Patricia Bagwell and family and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27th , 2014 at 11:00 am at Coal Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Coal Mountain Cemetery. A meal will follow the graveside service at Coal Mountain Baptist Church's Life Center.

The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Coal Mountain Baptist Church or the Georgia Baptist Children Home.
