Ruby Doska Hughes Blessing

Ruby Doska Hughes Blessing, age 99 of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Matthew Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 6 - 9 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blessing was born on June 10, 1915 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Richard Clarence Hughes and Annis Jane Tatum Hughes. She was a homemaker and attended Oakwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rex Claude Blessing, her daughter, Myrtle Jane Blessing; great-grandson, Ian David Benton; her sisters, Pluma Crow, Ethel Hemphill, Mae Reed, Mertie Ree Sizemore and Nella Braselton; and her brothers, Lee Hughes, R.C. Hughes, Claude Hughes and Tatum Hughes.

Mrs. Blessing is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Steve Dixon of Gainesville and Mary and Phillip Payne of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Emmett and Virginia Blessing of Jefferson; son, Leonard Blessing, Sr. of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Judith Blessing of Guatemala and Bill and Janice Blessing of Gainesville; grandchildren, Sherry Hayes, Randy Hayes, Carl Blessing, Jeff Blessing, Ted Denney, Beth Denney, Leonard Blessing, Jr., Larissa Thames and Ruby Blessing; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
