John F. 'Jack" Peacock

John F. "Jack" Peacock, age 66, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014. He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Joan Rowntree Peacock, Suwanee, GA; children, Benjamin and Lori Peacock, Philadelphia, PA, Joshua Peacock, Baltimore, MD, JoAnna Peacock Moon and husband, Brent, Winder, GA and John Peacock, Suwanee, GA; sister, Patricia Lewis, Doylestown, PA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jayne and David Carpin, Cumming, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Jody Rowntree, Hahira, GA and Jon and Sara Rowntree, Ray City, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Peacock was born February 9, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a retired veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a Purple Heart recipient in 1969 for his service and injuries sustained during combat in Vietnam and was the only Vietnam veteran survivor from an ambush on October 18, 1967. He was also retired from Merrill Lynch Co. in Atlanta, GA. He attended St. Monica Catholic Church in Duluth, GA. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Monica Catholic Church with Father Jack Durkin serving as Celebrant. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Jack Peacock.
