Russell Yates, II

Obituary Date: Monday, July 21, 2014

Mr. Russell Yates, II, age 69, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.



A Celebration of Life, will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service and one hour following the service at the funeral home.



Mr. Yates was born November 13, 1944 in Dallas, Texas, the son of the late Russell Earl Yates and Elizabeth (Gross) Yates. He lived in Dallas until moving to Louisiana where he attended college at Tulane University, where he earned a Bachelor's of Mathematics degree. In the late 1970's he moved to Atlanta, GA, where he worked in the insurance and financial planning industry. In 1987 he opened Cattleman's Steakhouse on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville, GA. He continued working there until it's closing the summer of 2003. Following his retirement he worked various part-time jobs to keep busy. He loved spending time with his daughters, family, close friends and playing Uno.



He was preceded in death by his parents.



Russell is survived by his daughters, Kristen Yates of Flowery Branch, GA; Madisen Yates of Auburn, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Kenneth Blackshear of Garland, TX; nephews and niece, Kenny Blackshear of Garland, TX; Steve and Corrie Blackshear of Florissant, CO; Tom Blackshear of Forney, TX and Karen Birmingham of Wylie, TX; a number of great-nieces and nephews and several close friends.
