Ethel York Abernathy

Funeral services for Ethel York Abernathy, age 90, of Clarkesville will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dave Fortner and Rev. Jerry Vandiver will officiate with interment to follow the service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Abernathy died July 20, 2014 at Habersham Home West.

Mrs. Abernathy was born August 27, 1923 in White County, Georgia. She was a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church in White County. In addition to her parents, Amos and Mattie York, Mrs. Abernathy is preceded in death by her husband Harry Miles "H. M." Abernathy.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law Allen and Gertrude Abernathy of Clarkesville; granddaughters and their spouses Angela and David Savage and Beth and Charles Giaquinta both of Clarkesville; great grandson Christopher Savage and his spouse Cari of Cartersville and great granddaughter Tiffany Savage of Clarkesville; a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
