Thomas Newton Lumsden Jr.

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Thomas Newton Lumsden, Jr., 59, of Nacoochee died as the result of a heart attack on July 12, 2014. Tom was born March 25, 1955 in Clarkesville, GA to Dr. Thomas and India Lumsden. He graduated from Westminster Schools in Atlanta, GA in 1972 and attended Duke University on a Naval ROTC scholarship.He later graduated from Piedmont College and was on staff at Habersham Home in Demorest for many years. Tom was an avid writer and chess player.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Thomas N. Lumsden Sr. He is survived by his mother India Dyer Lumsden, sister and brother-in-law Bunny and Steve Winter, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Chris Geidel and brother and sister-in-law John and Kay Lumsden all of Sautee-Nacoochee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Clarkesville Presbyterian Church, Clarkesville, GA, on Tuesday July 22 at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow.
