Margaret Elnora Allen

Margaret Elnora Allen, 85, of Gainesville passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 following a period of declining health.

Born in Cornelia, Ga on December 8, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Winfred and Elsie Woodall Free. Mrs. Allen had been a resident of Hall County for most of her life. She was a homemaker but had worked for H & R Block and she retired as office manager for Don Hammond Bridge Construction Co. Mrs. Allen was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church. She was a faithful christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and to all her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Allen, Jr., brothers; Donald Free and Niles Free, and sister in law, Shirley Free.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter and son in law, Linda and Chris Runnels of Flowery Branch, son, Terry Allen of Loganville; grandchildren, Kalie Peace and husband Josh of Lula, Billy Scarborough of Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Christian Peace, Samuel Peace; brother, Elwood Free of Covington; brother and sister in law, Dwight Free and Mary Ann Wisherd ,Jasper; sisters in law, Ann Free of Braselton, Betty Free of Rome, NY, Pat Allen of Cornelia; sister in law and brother in law, Sandra and Lamar Galloway, Homer, and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014 in the Chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd Free and Rev. Scott Crook will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
