Alton Harrison Hughes

Alton Harrison Hughes, age 92 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Bell Minor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Drewery Loggins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday 18, 2014 from 5 - 8 p at the funeral home.
Mr. Hughes was born September 4, 1921 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Jim Hughes and Ruth Green Hughes. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II was retired from Chicopee Textile Mill. Alton was of the Methodist Faith and was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hortense Thomas Hughes, his brothers, Paul Hughes and Bill Hughes and his sister, Ina Mae Elrod.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Donald & Barbara Hughes of Gainesville, grandson & wife, Alan & Renee Hughes of Calhoun, Georgia, granddaughter & husband, Emileigh & Michael Greene of Gainesville, great-grandchildren, Catherine Hughes, Harrison Hughes, Victoria Hughes and Harper Greene and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.
