Keaton Franklin Coker

Obituary Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2014
Keaton Franklin Coker, 18, of Gainesville, Georgia, overcame cancer in the ultimate way on Tuesday, July 15th, 2014.

Keaton was a young man who simply made everything better through his involvement. His Flowery Branch football team was better for having # 70 in its huddle. The congregation of Lakewood Baptist church was stronger because Keaton called it home. His extended family, which stretched from the hills of North Georgia to the flatlands of South Georgia, was richer because Keaton's DNA was intertwined with theirs.

Keaton loved Jesus and influenced his friends to do likewise. He didn't always need a bible in his hand to do it because his life was a living testimony. He influenced others with his easy laugh, quiet demeanor, and caring nature. He loved many in his 18 years of life, but none more than his parents, his brothers, and sister-in-law. He was a family man and he will be missed.

Keaton is survived by his parents, Miles and Sharon (Cook) Coker of Flowery Branch; brother and sister-in-law, Karson and Calah Coker of Clermont; brother, Kanler Coker of Chapel Hill, NC; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Peggy Coker of Gainesville, GA; maternal grandparents, Kelton and Doris Cook of Metter, GA; uncles and aunts, Keith and Marybeth Cook of Norcross; Barrett and Marcy Cook of Jacksonville, FL; Theresa Coker of Gainesville; and Pat and Joe Shubert also of Gainesville; he is also survived by his cousins, extended family and friends from Church and School.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, July 18, 2014 at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Dr. Tom Smiley, Reverend Don Ormsbee and Reverend Scott Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Lakewood Baptist Church on Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville.

Flowers will be accepted but for those who desire donations may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church Kids Camp Scholarship Program 2235 Thompson Bridge Road Gainesville, GA 30501.
