Margaret Virginia Pruitt

Margaret Virginia Poole Pruitt, age 94 of Homer, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Banks County on January 29, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Florence Poole. Mrs. Pruitt was retired from Carwood Manufacturing with over 25 years of service. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking, and her flowers. She was a devoted Christian and member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Pruitt was the oldest member of her church at the present time and took great pride that her father, grandfather, and uncle helped establish in 1917. Described by her family, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Her love surrounded her family, her church, her co-workers, and her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Pruitt; son, Jerry Pruitt; daughters, Marion Pritchett, Mildred Pruitt; son-in-laws, Herbert Bray and James Pritchett; grandchild, Lacey Pruitt; brothers, Howard, Mitchell, and Billy Poole; sisters, Annie Sue Greenway and Ruth Edwards.
Surviving are daughters and son-in-laws, Chris & Harry Dietrich of Homer and Carolyn & Eugen Eckstein of Maysville; son, James Pruitt and his friend, Kathy Freeman of Baldwin; daughter-in-law, Louise Pruitt of Commerce; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudolph & Jewell Poole, Kenneth & Dot Poole, and Donald & Sandra Poole all of Baldwin; sisters, Myrtle & John A. Lewallen, Rachel & Jay McNabb, and Linda & Charles Chapman all of Baldwin, Francine & Johnny Elsner of Carnesville, and Julia & Tom McConnell of Cornelia; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Elder Paul Bryson, Rev. Kenny Kilby, and Rev. Vaughn Howington officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 pm Tuesday. The family is at the residence of Chris & Harry Dietrich, 360 Wells Rd, Homer, GA, 30547.
