Mr. Robert William Fields, age 83, of Dahlonega passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born in Lumpkin County, Mr. Fields had lived much of his life in the Atlanta and Marietta area before returning in 2001. He was retired from Yellow Freight Systems as dock supervisor in 1994. Mr. Fields was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mr. Fields was preceeded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Ollie Dyer Fields and sisters, Lona Mae Turner and Louise Edge. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Louise Sutton Fields; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Lewis; son and daughter-in-law; Bobby and Kathy Fields, all of Dahlonega'; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and H.B. Waters of Dawsonville and brother and sister-in-law, Rondal and Jeanette Fields of Clermont. Three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Fields will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home with Rev. Phill Miller, Rev. Shane Savage and Rev. Marty Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Dahlonega Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 and on Monday, July 14th from noon until the time of service.
