Troy Burrell Ward

Troy Burrell Ward, age 76, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014.




Mr. Ward was born on March 2, 1938 in Banks County, Georgia; son of the late Broughton Burrell and Bessie Martin Ward. He was also preceded in death by his, sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Lamb Davis; brother-in-law, Ed Hannas and nephew, Douglas Dewayne Davis. Mr. Ward was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church and was a United States Army Veteran. He was retired employee of Standard Telephone Company with 32 years of service. Mr. Ward was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, as well as a true friend to all that knew him. He was an avid inventor and took great pride in making and designing almost anything. Over the years he developed a wonderful ability of telling unusually comical stories about family members that everyone enjoyed listening to.




Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Crete Chambers Ward, Cornelia; son, Timothy Troy Ward, Cornelia; sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Efford Loudermilk, Cornelia; sister, Glenda Hannas, Cornelia; grandchildren, Tisha Ward-Matias, Madeline Marie Ward, and Nathan Ward.




Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest Georgia with Rev. Keith Allison and Jason Blackburn. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.




The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 and from 12-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.
