Kathryn Gibbs Parker

Kathryn Gibbs Parker, 86, of Gainesville passed away on June 28, 2014 at Willowwood Nursing Center.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parker was born on March 30, 1928 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Grover Cleveland Gibbs, Sr. and Nancy Anna Edge Gibbs. She was retired from Leece-Neville and also worked at the Royal Theater and was a member of the Salvation Army. "Sis" as she was known to family and friends, had an incredible zest for life and her laughter brightened many family occasions. She was beloved by her many friends, relatives, and co-workers at Leece-Neville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Parker, Jr.; sisters, Lavinia Skinner, and Mary Cook; brothers, Edgar Gibbs, Grover "Bud" Gibbs, Jr., Alvin Gibbs, and Hubert Gibbs, Sr.

Mrs. Parker is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Russell Lane of Duluth, Georgia; son, Greg Parker of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Steve Martin of Gainesville. She cherished her grandchildren: granddaughter, Robin Lane of Statesboro, Georgia; grandson, Kevin Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter and husband, Brittany and Cody Mize of Gainesville; great grandson, Parker Mize of Gainesville; and sister-in-laws, Mary Jo Gibbs , and Sallie Gibbs Chapman both of Gainesville.
