Rachel Eunice Murphy

Rachel Eunice Murphy, age 74 of Gillsville, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Johnny Knight will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 3 - 5 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Murphy was born September 16, 1939 in Homer, Georgia to the late Floyd Whitlock and Clara Mae Gowder Whitlock. She was retired from Fieldale Farms and was a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Kenneth Bryant, Rickey Bryant and Steven (Fatback) Bryant, brothers, Benson Whitlock and Branson Whitlock and her sister, Ethel Riley.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, Walter Murphy of Gillsville, her children, Jeffery (Rebecca) Bryant of Gainesville, Becky (Shane) Black of Gainesville, Diane (Clayton) Helton of Gillsville, Linda (Dennis) Turpin of Gainesville, Brenda Turpin of Gainesville, Stephanie Brophy of Gainesville, her brothers, Gordon Whitlock of Apple Valley, Georgia, Swayne Whitlock of Gastonia, North Carolina, Roy Whitlock of Jefferson, sister, Mary Frances Johnson of Jefferson, 22 grandchildren and numerous of great-grandchildren.
