Mrs. Sybil J. Cato, 85 of Flowery Branch died Thursday June 26, 2014 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Cato was the daughter of the late John Claude and Nelia Smith Emmett. She was retired from Potter-Brumfield and enjoyed flea marketing with her husband, Calvin Cato. Mrs. Cato was a charter member of the Blackshear Place Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony "Tony" and Nell Cato, Flowery Branch; grandson, Tony Cato, Jr., Flowery Branch; granddaughter and husband, Debbie and Warren Roper, Gainesville; granddaughter, Dianne Carder, Honea Path, SC; great grandchildren, Heidi Moore, Hoschton; Megan Roper, Atlanta, Dylan Reed, Winder; Nick Cato, Flowery Branch; great great grandchildren, Kaden Moore and Mitchell Moore, both of Hoschton; brothers, Jesse B. Emmett, Rhode Island; Aubrey Emmett, Cumming and Rev. Billy Emmett, Gainesville. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Cato is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Calvin Cato; brothers, George Emmett and Eugene Emmett, sister, Madge Emmett Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday June 29, 2014 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Carpenter will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday June 28 from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to ones favorite charity or Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.
