Norma June Preston, 89, passed away early Tuesday morning from complications arising from an unexpected surgery. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband of seventy years, William R. Preston, of Suwanee, GA; twin sister Betty Lou Riley Young of Anderson, IN; daughter Leanna G. Brown (husband Steven Brown) of Sugar Hill, GA; granddaughters Ashley R. Walter (husband Michael Walter) and Amy M. Turner (husband Nathan Turner); great grandchildren Preston Michael Walter, Kenneth Grant Walter, Emmaline Grace Turner. Mrs. Preston's son, Kerry Michael Preston, predeceased her in 1986 but left behind two granddaughters, Erin Hillary Preston, Jacksonville, FL and Corey Allison Preston, West Bend, WI.
Mrs. Preston was raised Chesterfield, IN. Once married, she became a life-long homemaker and mother. She lovingly supported her husband through a military career which led them to travel with the family to many parts of the country and abroad. Her hobbies included bowling, golf, bridge, cooking, and reading. She was an avid walker and walked three to four miles a day until her mid 80s. She was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star.
After moving from Orlando, FL in 2009, Mrs. Preston became a member of Buford First United Methodist Church. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Flanigan Funeral Home, 4400 S. Lee Street, Buford, GA 30518 at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Visitation and receiving of family and friends will be held in the stateroom beginning at 1:00 p.m.
