Gertrude Peagler Barrett

Graveside services for Gertrude Peagler Barrett, age 97, of Clarkesville will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park.

Mrs. Barrett passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Born in Lumpkin, Georgia on December 25, 1916, Mrs. Barrett was the daughter of the late Henry James and Willie Mary Stewart Peagler. Mrs. Barrett graduated from high school magna cum laude and moved to Atlanta. She was employed by Southern Bell/Bell South and retired after 43 years of service. After marrying Howell Barrett in 1948, she and her husband moved to College Park. Mrs. Barrett was an active member of College Park Presbyterian Church. In 1988, Mrs. Barrett moved to Clarkesville. She was an active member of Clarkesville Presbyterian Church and from 1989 through 2006, Mrs. Barrett volunteered at Habersham County Medical Center.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barrett is preceded in death by her husband Howell Barrett.

Survivors include son and daughter in law Hal and Holley Barrett and grandson Scott Bivins Barrett.
