Coleman Collins, Jr

Coleman Collins, Jr., age 85, of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at his residence following a sudden illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, Dawsonville, Georgia. Reverend Tony Holtzclaw and Reverend Joey Gilbert will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 9 pm at the funeral home.


Mr. Collins was born on May 28, 1929 in Dahlonega, Georgia to the late Coleman Collins Sr. and Faye Gaddis Collins. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was retired from Mansfield Oil Company. Coleman was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helene Beck Collins, his son, Ronald Coleman Collins and his granddaughter, Tyra Collins Reed.


Mr. Collins is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law, Faye & Gary Humphries of Gainesville and Deby & Mike Gaddy of Gainesville, son, Jef Collins of Gainesville, grandsons & their wives, Chris & Amy Collins of Cleveland and Curtis & Angelia Lee of Gainesville, granddaughter & her husband, Mindy & Jody Martin of Dahlonega, grandson & wife, Charles & Chera Canupp of Woodbridge, Virginia, grandson, Chad Rider of Cumming, grandson & wife, Patrick & Crystal Higingbotham of Gainesville, grandson & friend, Scott Higingbotham & Rachel Nelson of Weston, West Virginia, granddaughter & fiancé, Ashley Gaddy & Taylor Lynch of Gainesville, granddaughter & husband, Paige & Emiliano Almeida of Gainesville, granddaughter, Ava Collins of Braselton, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, sisters, Betty Jean Corn of Gainesville and Evelyn Wallace of Gainesville, brother, Jimmy Collins of Dawsonville,
