Lena Tubbs Shoaf

Ms. Lena Tubbs Shoaf, age 87, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, June 23, 2014 following a long courageous battle with cancer.


Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Richard Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 pm Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Ms. Shoaf was born July 15, 1926 in Sumner, Mississippi the daughter of the late Chester Lee Tubbs and Leavy (McCullough) Tubbs. She was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bobby Tubbs and LeRoy Tubbs.

Ms. Shoaf is survived by her son, Dr. Thomas Shoaf and Patti Chambers of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Tricia Shoaf; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrye and Bob Bentley; daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Ken Robinson all of Gainesville; Linda Shoaf of Winder; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Glenda Tubbs of Mississippi. Her greatest joy in her later years was being a grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives; special friends, Sammye and Reg, Shirley, Carolyn, Bobbie, Rose, Ruth, Marie and Mary.

Our deepest appreciation is given to all of Lena's physicians, nurses and Hospice of Northeast Georgia for their guidance and compassion. A special thank you to her two caregivers, Nichele and Anita. The family would like to thank all friends and church families for their prayers and loving support throughout Ms. Shoaf's long illness.
