Martha L. McKelvey

Martha L. McKelvey, age 73, of Buford, GA died Sunday, June 22, 2014 after an extended illness. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Danny Newbern will officiate. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens, Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Flowers accepted or contributions may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund. Mrs. McKelvey was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McKelvey. She is survived by her children, Torrie Roney and husband Steve, Dacula, GA and Kellie Karnes, Winder, GA. Grandchildren, Lillie Karnes, Ellison Karnes and Clayton Roney. Sisters, Carolyn Williams and husband, Grady, Ringgold, GA and Anne Millwood, Homer, GA. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Martha was born in Walker County, GA and had lived in the Atlanta area the past 56 years. She was a 1961 graduate of the Crawford Long School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse and retired from Gwinnett Medical Center. Martha was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Buford where she and her husband Frank were active for many years.
