Brenda Joyce Cook King, age 62, of Baldwin, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Habersham Medical Center.
Born in Clarkesville, on October 4, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Laymon Brady Cook and Jewell Mae Wade Cook. Mrs. King was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and great grandchildren, as well as spending time at Habersham Retreat. She also enjoyed knitting and quilting and spent the last two years of her life at Habersham Home West.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Preston King; brother, Keith Cook.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Preston King (Melissa) of Baldwin; son, Jeffery Shane King of Baldwin; daughters and sons-in-law, Camilla Dawn Rumsey (Steve) of Alto and Angela Hope King Ballew (Walter Reed, Jr.) of Clarkesville; brothers, Larry Cook of Baldwin and Kevin Cook of Cornelia; sisters, Linda McElroy of Carnesville and Beverly Estafen of Duluth; sister-in-law, Grace King Hogsed of Toccoa; grandchildren, Alex Preston King (Abigail) of Maysville, Jacob Lawrence King (Brogan) of Cornelia, Camilla Mary Rumsey of Alto and Walter Reed Ballew, III of Clarkesville; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Addyson, Aiden, Nolan and Axel King.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell and Rev. Luther Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday.
