James Paul Wooten

James Paul Wooten, 85, of Clayton, Georgia passed away at his residence Thursday, June 5, 2014. He was born in Franklin, NC and was the son of the late Charlie Washington Wooten and Ruth Jane Brown Wooten.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Jones Wooten in 1994 and two brothers, Fred Wooten and Neville Wooten; and one sister, Sue Wooten Roper; brother-in-law, Leonard Jones; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ethel Fox Jones and James Leonard Jones;



Mr. Wooten is survived by two sons, Dennis Paul Wooten and his wife, Carolyn of Creedmoor, NC and Douglas Edward "Eddie" Wooten and his wife, Anita of Knoxville, TN; Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kristin Peebles, Matthew Wooten, Hope Wooten, and Paul Wooten; and one great-grandchild. Madison Peebles; a loving friend, Betty McKay of Franklin, NC; one brother, Bruce Wooten of Franklin, NC; and three sisters, Catherine Ray, Shirley Shuler and Agnes Tardy all of Franklin, NC; six sister-in-laws, Ruby Cabe of Franklin, NC, Annie Nell Crowe of Elizabethton, TN, Mildred Conner of Brevard, NC, Christine Swanson of Locust, NC, Evelyn Sheffield and Bessie Cogdill, both of Sylva, NC.



He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by Western Carolina Telephone Company and worked for Contel for over 37 years. He also served on the Clayton Housing Authority Board and was a faithful member of Clayton Church of God.



The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 1 PM to 3 PM Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 3 PM in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Alexander, Rev. James Pendrey and Rev. Clark Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in Clarkes Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, 1999 Chapel Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
