Mr. Henry Earl McLain, age 71, of Pendergrass, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Reverend Boone Strickland will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
A lifelong resident of Gainesville, Earl was born August 3, 1942. He graduated from Gainesville High School, Young Harris College and the University of Georgia. He served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam. He owned the Riverhaus Pizza in Helen for a short period of time and worked in logistics for GTO in Gainesville. Earl was also an avid golfer
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dean Terrell Smith and step-father, Richard Smith.
Earl is survived by his faithful loving companion of 27 years, Roberta Miller; son and daughter-in-law, Teke and Tara McLain; grandchildren, Taylor and Bailey McLain; Roberta's children, Celena Knapp and Matt Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Kaye McLain; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Gary Fox and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Earl and Roberta rescued many animals, which he will sadly be leaving behind, Buddy, Sadie, Sam, Smokey, Blackie, Tammy and Dolly
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Earls' honor to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia 845 West Ridge Road Gainesville, GA 30501.
