Catherine Newton Robertson

Obituary Date: Wednesday, June 4, 2014



Catherine Newton Robertson, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 04, 2014 at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, Georgia. Mrs. Robertson was born February 25, 1921 in Macon, Georgia to the late Louie DeVotie Newton and Julia Carstarphen Newton. A graduate of Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia, Mrs. Robertson served in the Red Cross during World War II. Following the war, she taught school in both Georgia and Alabama school systems. Mrs. Robertson ministered alongside her husband, Dr. E. Moss Robertson, Sr. in churches in South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. She was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir in all of their churches. In their last church, St. Luke's Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody, she also served as an Elder. Catherine was devoted to her family and friends and to the Lord and His church. She was beautiful in spirit and appearance and lived her life with grace and dignity.



In addition to her husband, Mrs. Robertson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Jan and Kenneth Yancey; her son and daughter-in-law, E. Moss and Tricia Robertson, Jr., all of Atlanta; 7 grandchildren, Hammond Rauers, Bryan Rauers, Katie Sanders and E. Moss Robertson, III, Kenny Yancey, Kelley Yancey and Keith Yancey and 5 great grandchildren.



A private family interment service will be held. A memorial service honoring Catherine Robertson's life will be held at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church at a later date.



In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions can be made to St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, 1978 Mt Vernon Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338 or to her hospice caregivers at the Pruitt Cares Foundation, 1626 Jeurgens Court, Norcross, GA 30093.
