Carey D. (Kay) Abercrombie

Mr. Carey D. (Kay) Abercrombie, age 85, of Murrayville, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Wahoo Baptist Church in Murrayville. Reverend Les Fuller and Reverend Ken Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Abercrombie was born June 29, 1928 in Dahlonega, son of the late William Dee. Abercrombie and Carrie (Glaze) Abercrombie. He was a lifelong member of Wahoo Baptist Church and he was retired from Torrington in Dahlonega and also he was a lifelong farmer. He was known for his carpentry work as well. He was a member of Dahlonega Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge # 38 for over 50 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lillian Abercrombie Truelove.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marjorie (King) Abercrombie of Murrayville; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Lee and Elaine Abercrombie of Murrayville; daughter, Deborah A. Hood of Gainesville; and daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Dale Oldenburg of Murrayville; grandchildren, Kevin and Cierra Abercrombie; Amanda and Brian Brown; Adrienne and Chuck West; Derrick Stevens; Jonathan Oldenburg and Michael Oldenburg; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to a charity of your choice in Mr. Abercrombie's name.
