Pauline Cara Lawrence

Mrs. Pauline Lawrence, 92, of Gainesville, died May 28, 2014.



Mrs. Lawrence was born on July 14, 1921 in Seneca, SC. While working at a radio manufacturing company, she met her future husband, Eugene, and they were married on May 16, 1944.



Mrs. Lawrence was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Several contributions to St. Michael's include: chairperson of the Alter Guild, Hospitality and Welcoming Committee; Secretary, Treasurer and President of the Women's Guild. Pauline was named the Archdiocesan of Atlanta Woman of the Year from St. Michael in 1980. She was the oldest and last living charter member of the original St. Michael Catholic Church located on Spring St.



Mr. Lawrence served as a Yonah Girl Scout Leader for many years. She served on the PTA board of Main Street School in the capacity of treasurer and secretary. She enjoyed serving her community but her priority was being a devoted wife and loving mother for her five children.

Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Anthony Lawrence, her mother and father, Lily Blanch and Preston Lee Grant Sr.; sisters, Mildred Owens and Audrey Merritt.



She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Patsy and Jim Harwell, Paulette and Tom Pafford, Mary Lawrence; sons and daughter in law, Tony and Beth Lawrence all of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Frances and Dennis Savage, of Leesburg, VA. Grandchildren and spouses, Chris Harwell, Tommy Martin and wife Krista, Emily Shoaf and husband Clint, Stevie Martin and wife Tana, Rebecca Lawrence all of Gainesville; Scott Pafford and wife Marie of Wilmington, NC; Joe Savage and wife Niki, Tokyo, Japan; Katie Gossett and husband Barron Charleston, SC; Peter Savage and wife Jessica, Grundy, VA; Anna Jones and husband Matthew, Smyrna, GA. Great grandchildren, Andrew Michael Savage, Thomas Alexander Pafford, Gabriel David Savage, Eva Mary Shaof, Ella Grace Martin, Jacob Anthony Savage, Reece Anthony Pafford, Coleman Lawrence Martin, Isabella Cara Shoaf, Lily Katherine Gossett, Lucy Catherine Savage, Madison Abigail Harwell, Molly Harper Gossett, Sidney Ruiz Martin. Brothers, Preston Lee Grant, Jr. and Rex Keel Grant and wife Ruth of Gainesville.



The mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Monsignor Jaime Barona, Father Edward O'Conner, and Father James Harrison on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the Resurrection Mass at Little & Davenport Funeral Home between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.



In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, or to your favorite charity.
