Doris Pless Gagarin Varville

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 29, 2014 in Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Doris Pless Gagarin Varville, 93, of Springfield, Virginia, formerly of Gainesville. The Rev. Earl Pirkle will officiate. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Alto. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Varville was born May 18, 1921 to the late Sylvanus Alvin and Mary Indiana Wright Pless. She was the last of eight children and went home to be with her Lord and sing with her family on May 25, 2014. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Talmadge Pless and Travis Pless; sisters, Eula Barrett, Beulah Gilstrap, Floranelle Allen, Bronnez Purcell, Lessie Miller Brewer and former husbands, Alexis Gagarin and Bob Varville. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church and attended Central Baptist Church when she lived in Gainesville.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Isabell Gagarin, Springfield, VA.; granddaughter, Michelle Baker; one great-grandchild, Katia Baker; six nephews and seven nieces.
