Robert (Alex) Alexander Garner Jr.

Robert Alexander Garner, Jr "Alex" born March 15, 1936 passed away on Monday, May 19. Mr. Garner lived fifteen years in Greensboro, Georgia before moving to Dahlonega in 2006.

Alex is preceded in death by his father, Robert Alexander Garner, Sr. and mother, Judith Hill Garner of Union, SC as well as his first wife of 42 years Betty Lane Wise Garner.

Alex is survived by his wife, Marjorie Young Garner of Dahlonega; children Robert Alexander Garner III "Trey" and wife Heidi of Holly Springs, N.C.; Elizabeth Garner Morrison and husband Russell, of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren Robert Alexander Garner, IV (Lindsay), Jonathan Francis Garner, Kristin Marie Garner, Laura Kate Garner, Davis Richard Morrison, and Austin Lane Morrison.

Alex was graduate of The University of South Carolina where he studied Electrical Engineering. He served in the US Air Force. He was a Corporate Executive for Honeywell. Alex was an active member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Dahlonega where he served on the vestry. Mr. Garner was also a member of TERMITES, a men's woodworking group and MOBS, a men's bible study group while in Dahlonega. Alex was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. His laughter, positive encouragement, and selfless spirit will be missed by all.
