Kay Heglar Cahill

Obituary Date: Thursday, May 15, 2014
Kay H. Cahill, 75, of Buford, GA, died May 15, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, John B. Cahill, Jr., and her parents, Esther and Pratt Heglar of Kingsport, TN. Kay was both a talented artist
and gifted musician.

After studying at art schools in Nashville, TN, and Washington, DC, she operated Kay's Art Studio in Stone Mountain for more than 10 years.

Also an accomplished pianist, she played for her church and at weddings and other special events. She and her husband formed the rhythm bones/keyboard duo of Mr. & Mrs. Bones, performing for a range of audiences in the Metro Atlanta area.

Kay later teamed up with violinist Andy McGill as Classic Turquoise, entertaining local senior groups with popular music from the 20th century.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Cole of High Point, NC; son Christopher Whalen and wife Jan of Suwanee; granddaughter Lindsey Whalen of Suwanee; sister Judy Kinman of Chamblee; stepsons Michael E. Cahill and wife Patricia of Doraville and Patrick G. Cahill and wife Linda of Alpharetta; stepdaughter Cathy C. Andersen and husband David of Haslet, TX; and ten step-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, on Monday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service
at 7:00.
