Betty Ruth Gerrin Smith

Betty Ruth Gerrin smith, age 79, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014.




Mrs. Smith was born on September 7, 1934, in Demorest, Georgia to the late Lester H. and Burches McEntire Gerrin. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Coy Lee Gerrin, Kenneth Gerrin and Guy Gerrin. She was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was retired from Ethicon, a division of Johnson and Johnson, with twenty one years of loyal and dedicated service.




Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Leroy Smith, Cornelia, GA; daughters, Shelia Allen, Cornelia, GA, Lisa Carlyle, Cornelia, GA; sisters and brothers in law, Genell and Monte Smith, Cornelia, GA, Janice and Thomas Echols, Alto, GA, Linda and Johnny Burch, Toccoa, GA; brother, Barney Gerrin, Hollywood, GA; grandchildren, Chad Allen, Brandy Allen, Taylor Carlyle, Ashlie Carlyle Peck and husband Joe Peck; great grandchildren, Chastity Allen, Sidney Allen, Addison Allen, Baylie Peck.




Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. J. R. Elrod and Rev. Johnny Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Deacon Marvin Smith Officiating.




The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
