Ralph Walter Brechter

Obituary Date: Monday, May 5, 2014

Ralph Walter Brechter, age 79 of Gainesville, passed away on May 5, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.


Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with internment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Phil Carpenter and Rev. Daren Vogt will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 6-9 pm and Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Brechter was born on January 1, 1935 in Juneau, Wisconsin to the late Bill Brechter and Doris Bentz Brechter. He retired from the U.S. Army and also Allied Van Line. He was of the Lutheran faith and also attended faithfully Chicopee Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters

Master Sargent Brechter retired and served 20 years with the U.S. Army Airborne Division and served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam.He was also a highly decorated veteran with numerous bronze stars and Army Accommodations with Valor He was a loving husband, daddy, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather, he was loved by his Chicopee Church family and Corinth Church family where he will be greatly missed. His family loved him and he will always live in their hearts.

Mr. Brechter is survived by his wife, Louise Cowart Brechter of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Moore, sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Becky Brechter, and Billy and Kathy Brechter all of Gainesville, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
