Leoma Wheeler Wood

Leoma Wheeler Wood of Cumming, GA and originally of Spring Hill, Alabama went to her Heavenly Home on Friday, May 2, 2014. She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Mortimer McBroom Wood, parents Mamie and Walter Wheeler and her sisters, Gladiese Wheeler Crumpler and Myra Wheeler Weatherford.

Leoma grew up in Spring Hill, AL. After finishing high school she worked various jobs before marrying Mortimer (Mac) Wood, whom she was happily married to for 56 years. She was active in her church Cumming First United Methodist, where she served in the Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and Communion Services . She is fondly called Lee-Lee, a name given to her by her grandchildren. She courageously battled Alzheimers for the last 14 years and appreciated the loving care provided to her by her husband, her family and many caregivers.

She is survived by her daughters, Tina (Kevin) Newton of Hoover, AL; daughter, Cathy (David) Crouch of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Callie Brooke Newton, and Cole Patrick Newton; grand-dogs, Bunker and Gator. Other family includes nephews, Tillman (Patti) Fannin Wood, III, Jeff (Donna) Crumpler, Woody Lacey Goode, and Douglas Goode; nieces, Pam Crumpler, Racquel (Kenny) Meury, Delores (Don) Fox, Brucie Goode, and Kitty Goode.

Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 Sunday, May 4, 2014 in the McDonald & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 3:00
