Gerald Douglas Ward

Gerald Douglas Ward, age 67 of Browns Summit, North Carolina, formerly of New Holland, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital following a sudden illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Charles Black will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 9 - 10 am, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mr. Ward was born April 5, 1947 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Harold Estes Ward and Jacqueline Drury Ward. He served in the U.S. Navy, enlisted for 10 years, also served as an officer for 10 years. Gerald was retired from the State of North Carolina School System and of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Judy Carol Lee Ward.

Mr. Ward is survived by his daughter, Virginia Carol Ward of Raleigh, North Carolina, son & Daughter-in-law, Gerald Douglas & Katherine Ward of Browns Summit, North Carolina, grandchildren, Sophia Anne Ward and Enid Amelia Ward, of North Carolina and step-mother, Stella Violene Ward of Clarkesville.
