William H. "Bill" Shirley

William H. "Bill" Shirley, age 92, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Northeast GA Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Bill was born and raised in Lavonia, GA before moving to Lumpkin County in 1991. He was a man of great faith, had worked many years at Moore's Hardware, and was a volunteer at Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega. Bill was a proud WWII veteran having served his country in the United States Army.

Bill was the son of the late Carlton and Nettie Campbell Shirley, and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Shirley and Dan Shirley; and sister, Josephine Shirley Tribble.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Amy Payne Shirley; daughter, Carla Shirley Long, Franklin, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Julie Shirley Patty and Ken Patty, Sugar Hill, GA; and grandchildren, Kaylin Long, Taylor Long, and Connor Patty. Several nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives also survive.

A memorial service for Bill will be held at a later date.
