Dorothy "Marie" Hulsey

Mrs. Dorothy "Marie" Hulsey, age 87, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Harmony Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Mike Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 19, from 3 - 6 pm at the funeral home.


Mrs. Hulsey was born September 25, 1926 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Walter Hudgins and Ophelia Boggs Hudgins. She was the youngest of nine children. Marie attended Grace Baptist Church, thanks to friend Janet Bryant, who faithfully stopped by to pick her up for church each Sunday morning. She worked in the textile industry in her younger years and was a homemaker in her later years. Marie was a loving mother and enjoyed shopping for clothing and matching her outfits. She crocheted and taught her granddaughter, Mandy Adams how to make many beautiful things. Marie was the family historian and would tell many stories of her family and the area. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Harmony Baptist Church as a child. Her smile and wit will be missed by all. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Julius Hulsey, son, Randall Hulsey, her brothers & sisters, daughter-in-law, Rose Hulsey and granddaughter, Kathy Ferguson. Marie & Julius were wed 66 years ago the day before Easter in Dawsonville.


Mrs. Hulsey is survived by daughter, Gail Harbold, son & daughter-in-law, Roger & Sylvia Hulsey, son, Steven Hulsey, all of Hall County, 6 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
