Funeral services for Nancy Carter Daniel, age 82 of Demorest, will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Clarkesville, GA. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery, and the family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM in the church Parlor.
Mrs. Daniel died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Columbus, Georgia on May 19, 1931, Mrs. Daniel was the daughter of the late John Charles and Dorothea Knapp Carter. After high school, Mrs. Daniel completed her undergraduate studies at Tift College. She attended graduate school at Emory University earning her Masters degree in Education. Later, she attended the University of Georgia where she completed her Six Year Certificate in Educational Psychology and her doctoral studies earning a Ed.D. in Educational Psychology. Mrs. Daniel spent many years teaching in various school systems in Georgia before becoming a School Psychologist for the DeKalb County School System and then a Licensed Professional Counselor with North Georgia Counseling Associates in Alpharetta.
Mrs. Daniel was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville where she was actively involved in the Senior Adult and Ladies Jail Ministries. She was also a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Daniel was the recipient of the 2006 Bethlehem Baptist Church Senior Adult of the Year Award and the Woodmen of the World Community Leadership Award in 2009.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daniel is preceded in death by brothers John C. Carter, Jr. and Dr. Richard Carter.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Homer Lee Daniel of Demorest, daughters and sons-in-law Jan and David Courter of Oakwood and Lea and Philip Doll of Orlando, Florida, son and daughter-in-law Keith and Pamela Daniel of Lilburn, and seven grandchildren: Matthew Doll, Anna Doll, Callie Courter, Daniel Courter, Timothy Daniel, Thomas Daniel, and Zachary Daniel.
