Thandal 'T.H.' Dorsey

Thandal Haze "T.H." Dorsey, of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the age of 74 due to an extended illness. Born in Cleveland, GA, he was the son of the late Reverend Asa G. Chandler Dorsey and Annie Kate Palmer.


Thandal "T.H." graduated from White County High in 1957. In 1956, he was captain of the first football team at White County. He attended the University of Tampa where he played football, and he was an avid Gamecock fan. Mr. Dorsey honorably served in the Marine Corps from '58-63, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was the former CEO of Eagle Aviation in Columbia and he was currently the owner of Phillips Motors (Phillips-Autotech).


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leethal Derrick Dorsey and sister, Desma Dorsey Love. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Saeko "Cupie" Dorsey; siblings and spouses, Sharrell and Sherrill Dorsey, of Anniston, AL; Miriam and Dan Vandiver, Lula, GA; Bradley and Sandra Dorsey, Cleveland; Phillip and Cheryl Peters Dorsey, Marietta, GA; Trilla and L.C. Pruitt, Cleveland Fonda and Alan Riley, Acworth, GA; nieces and nephews, Simon Mochida; Robin Leonard; Beth, Amy, Chris and Russ Dorsey; Bruce, Larry and Lawrence Vandiver; Katrece Carter; Karla Garmon; Heather Singleton and Jason Pruitt, Derrick, Brannon and Chad Dorsey, and Dedra Forrester; Denise Hennessey and Katie Love; Faith and Christopher Riley.


Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, April 7, 2014 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Fortner will officiate. Interment will follow at Gateway Memory Park with full military honors.


The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Monday prior to the funeral service.
