Helen Thomason King

Helen Thomason King, age 94, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 following a period of declining health.

Mrs. King was born on November 22, 1919 in Lakemont, Georgia to the late Marion and Ila Mae Sloan Thomason. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee King, Sr.; daughter, Sylvia King Bowen; sister, Annie Mae Thomason Meeks; brothers Leslie Thomason, Harry Lee Thomason, Rhoda Thomason. Mrs. King was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was previously employed with Chicopee. Mrs. King was a very dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her daughters and sons in law, Judy and Bill Wyke, Andrews, North Carolina, Louise and Howard Williams, Demorest, Georgia, Susan and Bobby Watson, Demorest, Georgia; son and daughter in law, Lee, Jr. and Dot King, Mt. Airy, Georgia; sister, Blanche Ward Tavander, Charleston, South Carolina; brothers, Grady Thomason, Tucker, Georgia, Charles Thomason, Columbus, Georgia, Bill Thomason, Mt. Airy, Georgia; grandchildren, Sheila Williams, Shannon Hill, April Miller, Robin Moser, Beth Grimes, Judd Wyke, Dean Bowen, Ben Bowen, John King, Andrew King; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
