Charlie L. Grizzle

Charlie L. Grizzle, age 83, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA following a period of declining health.

Charlie was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was retired from the Burlington Pinetree Plant in Dahlonega and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Charlie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Charlie was the son of the late Raleigh Grizzle and Annie Moose Grizzle and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Grizzle; brothers, Paul Grizzle, Ed Grizzle, and Larry Grizzle; and sister, Ella Mae Calhoun.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine Grizzle, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and David Mabry, Dahlonega, GA, Sherrie Norrell, Dahlonega, GA; sisters, Carrie Robinson, Athens, GA, Bertha Gooch, Dahlonega, GA, Nell and Junior Simmons, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Aireyll and Joe Simmons, Heath and Brandy Christy, Wyatt Norrell, and Bailee Norrell; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Justin Simmons, Dustin and Ashlyn Christy. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Charlie are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Concord Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Tony Allison will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Thursday, March 27th 6 PM until 9 PM, all day on Friday, March 28th, and again on Saturday, March 29th until the time of service.

Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.
