Glenn Herbert Herd

Glenn Herbert Herd, 92, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at The Oaks Assisted Living, Cumming, Georgia. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Brigadier General where he was a highly decorated pilot and served as the Base Commander of Dobbins Air Field. He was an avid golfer, loving husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Ernest and Leora Purdy Herd. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Crafts Herd of Cumming, GA; daughter, Glenda J. Holmes of Cumming, GA; grandson, Frank "Chip" Jones, IV of Simpsonville, SC; granddaughter, Ashley Payne Jones of Alpharetta, GA; great granddaughter, Ellis Ann Jones of Simpsonville, SC. And many other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the McDonald and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Herd officiating. Interment will follow the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA, with full military honors.
