Horace Gaithern Nunnally

Horace Gaithern Nunnally, age 90, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014.




Mr. Nunnally was born on April 1, 1923 in Banks County, to the late J. B. and Sally Farmer Nunnally. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Hayek Nunnally; sister, Lonie Williams; brother, Taft Nunnally. He was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist where he also served as deacon. Mr. Nunnally was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was a charter member of the World War II Memorial in Washington D. C. Mr. Nunnally was retired from Schnaig Corporation with 43 years of service. He loved people. He loved fishing and hunting. Mr. Nunnally enjoyed going to the Cornelia Post Office to pick up mail and to talk with people.




Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Sue and Bolin Sylvester Morris, Mt. Airy, Georgia; sister, Nay Gragg, Clayton, Georgia; granddaughter and husband, Lisa and Tommy Thurmond, Nicholson, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Anna Marissa Thurmond, Nicholson, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews.




Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Ken Phillips, Rev. Ray Turpin and Larry Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery.




The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014.
