Jackie Jameson Parkerson
Obituary Date: Thursday, March 13, 2014
Jackie Jameson Parkerson, 94, of Clarkesville, passed away on March 13, 2014.
The daughter of the late Beulah Stanley Jameson and Donald Jameson, she was born on November 25, 1919, in Plant City, Florida, and grew up with her sisters Eloise and Betty in Tampa.
She was named Eulanee after her mother's roommate in college, and would have been known by that name for the rest of her life had she not discovered that she did not have a birth certificate. The only information on file stated that an unnamed female was born to her parents on November 25, 1919. Since her favorite uncle had nicknamed her "Jackie Boy" because her parents wanted a boy, she decided her legal name would be Jackie Eulanee Jameson on her new birth certificate.
Because her father worked for the railroad, he was able to get free train passes for her and the family to travel to New York and other cities. As a college graduation present, he gave her and her mother a trip to California.
She was a graduate of Hillsborough High School and the University of Tampa,. Her ambition was to teach school, get married, and have a family. She was teaching when she went on a blind date with Warren Orin Parkerson, a young warrant officer stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. Four months later, they were married on September 30, 1942. Shortly after the wedding, Warren was sent to the South Pacific battle zone. After the war, they lived at Air Force bases all over the world, from Sumter, South Carolina to Weisbaden, Germany.
Her favorite color was red, her favorite dessert was key lime pie, and her favorite television programs were sports. She loved basketball and baseball, especially the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Braves. Two of her prized possessions were autographed pictures of Atlanta Braves star Dale Murphy and former Braves owner Ted Turner.
Survivors include her husband Col. Warren Parkerson of Clarkesville, daughter and son in law Kay Parkerson and Don O'Briant of Lilburn, son and daughter in law Warren O. "Parke" Parkerson, II and wife Barbara R. Parkerson of Burke, Virginia, sister Betty J. Law of Land O' Lakes, Florida, grandchildren Warren O. "Trey" Parkerson (Angela L.), Christie P.
