Jimmy Carpenter, 65, of Coffee Lane, Cleveland, Georgia, died Monday March 10, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
He was born in Clayton, Georgia, January 8, 1949 to the late James Fred and Dorothy Pearl Talley Carpenter. He lived the greater part of his life in Rabun County. He was a U.S. Army Veteran in the Vietnam era and worked as a Police Officer in Law Enforcement for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Fred Carpenter and is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Carpenter of the home, six sons, Jimmy Lee Carpenter of Cleveland, GA., Randall Carpenter, Josh and Michael Webb of Tiger, GA., Michael Taylor of Cleveland, GA., and Nathan Taylor of Toccoa, GA., three daughters, Laura Ann Helms of Loganville, GA., Amanda Lynn Carpenter Renshaw of Toccoa, GA., and Samantha Carpenter, his mother, Dorothy Pearl Talley Carpenter, of Scaly Mtn. NC., two brothers, Lester a nd Jerry Carpenter both of Scaly Mtn. NC., five sisters, Jo Anne Mitzlaff of Mississippi., Jane James of Clayton, GA., Maybelle Bryson of Cashiers, NC., Brenda Carpenter of Clayton, GA., and Bobbie Sue Carpenter of Scaly Mtn. NC., seven grandchildren, several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday March 12, 2014 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell and Harvey Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the Watkins Family Cemetery Scaly Mountain, North Carolina. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Tuesday March 11, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. The family is at their respective residences.
