Laverne Wilbanks Delk, age 82 of Stockbridge, passed away March 9, 2014.
Born on December 5, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Marlor and Maggie Meeks Wilbanks. Mrs. Delk lived most of her life in Habersham County and the remainder in Stockbridge, Ga. after marrying her late husband, Mr. James Delk.
"Granny" as she was called by everyone worked as a seamstress at Carwood Manufacturing for over 40 years. She was known for her hugs and always welcoming anyone into her home. She enjoyed cooking and never let anyone leave her home hungry. Mrs. Delk was a member of Stockbridge Assembly of God.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jewell Wilbanks and sister, Lenora VonHirschsprung.
She is survived by her 5 children, son Cohen Jeffrey Martin (Donna), Chattanooga, Tenn., Tina Blankenship Ramey (Monty) Baldwin, Lynn Blankenship Meyer (Charles) Athens, Hope Blankenship, and Marlene Blankenship Martin both of Stockbridge; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Martin, Alex Martin, Jason Goodson, Davis Meyer, Evan Meyer and Devin Michael; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 godchildren, Brittany Marie Kelley, Kylee Nicole Stewart, and David Emory Stewart.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. David Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday.
